Well, It was remiss of me not to mention my latest funders! I think I lost track of things when I was in Florida with the fever!
Big thank you's to Therese Muirhead, Jessica Connolly, Someone Anonymous, Lee Grant, Samantha Whitely and JD Ralley! Thank you for your support! It is really making all the difference. I can't wait to print my work and start sending it off to everyone! I'm getting very excited now, as I feel I am getting some really great images.
I've also changed my project description on my Indigogo Main Site to update where I am at with my project. It has evolved over time and I now feel I have found a story I am passionate about telling.

Recent work covering the political protests in Port Au Prince

Avid supported of Michelle Martelly (or Sweet Micky, a celebrity singer and comedian) at a political manifestation near Cite Soleil. Sweet Micky was supposedly the real second candidate and he is the most popular among the people of Port Au Prince. Rene Preval chose the 9 board member who announce the final count and it's believed that they placed Celestin - their party candidate in the top two over sweet Mickey despite clear indications during polling that Sweet Micky is one of the most popular candidates and Celestin is hugely unpopular.

The UN steps in on the borders of Port Au Prince where neighbouring camps are fighting over politics, each camp predominantly supporting different parties.

More from the election protests

Manifestation in Cite Soleil

Citizens of Cite Soleil show their support for Jude Celestin
In Cite Soleil, the poorest and most dangerous slum in Port Au Prince the people are supporting Celestin because he has never interfered in their community, voting for him represents the status quo. Celestin has manipulated this to his advantage, using their support as a threat again the rest of the people of Port au Prince, asserting that if he is not elected, the Cite Soleil residents will run riot in the street and start an all out civil war. A fairly far fetched claim that cleverly utilizes fear mongering to his benefit.

First Days In Haiti

So my first days in Haiti have actually been highly political, with protests and manifestations against the rigged election results called Tuesday, placing Jude Celestin in the the top two candidates. Celestin is the predecessor for the Rene Preval and the current ruling party and people are very disgruntled about the poor management off the Jan 12 earthquake crisis under this government. So despite my intentions to not cover daily news, I have been asked by my Agency in Europe to distribute to them, and I have been shooting the political unrest in the streets. It's also become clear to me, that this is an integral part of Haitian culture and it needs to be included in my story. So here are somepics of burning tyres and civil unrest........Of course the things I said I wouldn't do!
